E.U. PROJECTS

Through the Telecentres, Richard Singleton has been involved in 2 E.U. transnational co-operation Socrates Projects. The first, in 1998, was based in Lithuania. Called ADIS this project was about enabling physically disabled people to learn through Open & Distance Learning delivered through computer technologies. Richard Singleton was involved with research into the methodology, pedagogy and then the content of e-learning for disabled people.

The second E.U. Socrates Project was based in Sweden and involved 5 E.U. countries. It is called ACTIVE. This project was about online learning for people with slight learning disabilities who had problems with literacy and numeracy. As well as research Richard worked on the design of e-learning content and produced games in Macromedia Flash and worked with others to produce online content.

Both of these projects required Richard Singleton to make presentations to international conferences on the topics of e-learning, disabilities, literacy & numeracy and other related topics.
